Why Did You Become a Real Estate Agent in the First Place?
I want to make a ton of money – You could be in some trouble if this is your answer to why you became a real estate agent in the first place. The reason is because there are a lot of other ways to make money than to become a real estate agent.
Not only that, but there’s also a lot of competition out there. That doesn’t mean you can’t want to make money. Making money by selling homes is a great, wonderful, thing. However, making money can’t be the only reason.
Also, you’re probably not being honest with yourself if this is the answer. You work way too hard just for the money.
I like helping people – If this is your answer, you’re probably making a lot of money with your real estate business. After all, helping people is what you’re doing. Being a real estate agent means helping people find the home that makes the most sense for them where they are right now in their lives. It doesn’t mean taking people for all they’ve got.
If this is you’re answer, but you haven’t succeeded as much as you’d like, think about, well, the money. Why? There’s all sorts of ways to motivate you. If all you want to do is help people, maybe, the real estate business isn’t for you.

Doctors help patients get better. Laywers help their clients win their case. You help people find homes that are right for them, not for anybody else, for them. You mustn’t be a shark to run a successful real estate business. On the flip side, you are running a business. You must want to help people and make money.
Question why you wished to become a real estate agent in the first place. It might be to make a lot of money. It might be to help people. More than likely, you’re going to discover it’s both.
