Can you believe that it’s already March?! With winter behind us and the warmer weather in tow, this month usually kicks off one of the busiest real estate seasons of the year.
With that come a lot of fun holidays that you can use in your marketing. From fun posts to direct mail, emails, newsletters and gift ideas, let these holidays add a little more fun to your marketing efforts.
March 12 – National Plant a Flower Day
What better way to get your real estate leads and clients in the mood for more sunshine and green lawns than encouraging them to plant a flower? Marigolds and daffodils are, in particular, popular flowers to plant this month.
Some marketing ideas:
- Write a blog post about how to start cultivating a fantastic spring garden with tips on the type of flowers to plant and maybe even the best local nurseries in town.
- Post a tip on social media with a graphic or infographic showing how to plant flowers or what tools will be of most help.
- Send a packet of flower seeds to your leads or even clients with a cool note to “Spring into Action” and start thinking about selling their homes or looking for a new one.
- Give a beautiful gift of plantable spring flowers.
March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day
This holiday may be a no-brainer, but it still bears mentioning. Do you know the history of St. Patrick’s Day? Besides being covered in green or decorating with shamrocks, it comes from the Feast of St. Patrick, started in the early 17 century. According to National Day Calendar, “The day marks the death of St. Patrick and was chosen as an official Christian feast day and is observed by the Catholic Church.
“The day is also a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat.” And certainly all around the world.
March 20 – Official First Day of Spring
The sun begins to shine almost 12 hours long. From there, daylight increases bit by bit until the first day of Summer.
Of course, in the world of real estate, it also signals the start of one of the busiest (if not THE busiest) home selling and buying period of the year.
This is a great time to provide you leads and clients a checklist to get their homes ready for sale, staging tips, how to maximize their time searching for a home – anything that gets them excited about taking some real action.
March 29 – National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day
We love this holiday because it honors all small business owners, who are a vital part of our economy. On this day, they are recognized for their contributions.
The U.S. Small Business Administration says that there are more than 27 million small businesses in the United States. No doubt there are quite a few in and around our farm!
This is a great opportunity to do two things: Promote small businesses that future homeowners, for example, would love to know about and honor those small businesses with some free publicity. One thing you can start that could make a sizable impact is to create a resource page with links to your blog posts of interviews and reviews of these small businesses.
Make it a habit to make each week exciting and include this list in your monthly newsletter, as part of your calendar on your website and, of course, for blog posts. It makes for great content and brings a little fun to your marketing strategy!
