Step #1: Always Provide Excellent Customer Service

Have you ever gone to a restaurant where the wait staff jut didn’t care about providing average customer service? How excited were you to go back to that restaurant? Probably not excited at all, right?

Customer service is the single most important aspect of word of mouth marketing in any industry. More than anything else, the level of customer service you provide will affect what your clients say about you as a real estate agent.

Step #2: Become active and engaged

It goes without saying that if you don’t become engaged with your clients, they’ll wonder if they made the right choice to go with you as their real estate agent. Engagement means actively looking to meet your clients needs. As a real estate agent, you mustn’t just do that. You must also look to create a situation where your client’s needs are met even though their needs and wants don’t coincide.

To do that, you must understand your clients’ needs. Then, you must be active enough to find a home that satisfies those needs and gets as close as possible to your clients’ wants. Not an easy task, which is why if you can accomplish it, the word of mouth about you as a real estate agent will be ultra-positive.

Step #3: Become a real estate agent industry expert

Becoming an expert means understanding how the housing market works on both a macro and micro level. It doesn’t mean that just because you’ve got a real estate agent license, you’re automatically an expert. That’s not how things work.

By becoming an expert, by understanding the housing market, as well as how a mortgage payment could affect a household budget, you can point your house buying customers in the right direction.

The key is to control the message from the very beginning. If you’re able to do that, you’ll never have to deal with the negative word of mouth about you as a real estate agent.
